Grilled Steak with Mushroom Sauce

steaks (150 to 180g each)
3 tbsp
coarse, freshly ground black pepper

oil
Sauce
20g
butter
1 packet
maitake mushrooms, trimmed and chopped roughly
2
shallots, chopped
1
garlic clove, chopped
1 tbsp
balsamic vinegar
250ml
brown sauce
salt to taste

To cook steakCoat steaks with the black pepper.

In a sauté pan, heat the oil over high heat. When hot, place the steak in the pan and reduce the heat to medium. Cook for around 2 minutes on each side and set aside on a plate covered with a soup plate to let it rest.

To prepare the sauceIn the same pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add in mushrooms and cook for about 1 minute. Add the shallots and garlic, and cook for another minute.

Pour in balsamic vinegar and brown stock, and simmer for 5 minutes, seasoning to taste.

To servePlace steak on individual plate and spoon maitake sauce over.
